My husband and I live in Clinton, decided to do the ole Sunday drive. 2 decades ago I damn near spent most of my time tending bar at my boyfriend and daughter's dad's bar Ryno's in Gooselake. Beings his fam farm in Char-Vegas we decided to check out the long lost farm. From there we decide to stop at Dad's Place. WOW! 20 yrs later this bar I'd frequent was NOT Dad's Place as I once knew! So pretty and clean with great curb appeal. Instantly I thought, awkward. It's going to not only look different but we're going to get the look from the local regulars I wasnt wrong. And Thank God for that! 2 guys at the bar and the bartender, James. Eddie, SO GOOD to see you again man! Bartender, EXCELLENT COCKTAIL, made to Order! The price was beyond fair. This guy tending bar was fast, efficient AND put up w my 21 question with genuine conversation and smile! The place was CLEAN, updated and beautiful. Obviously updated and modernized since my last visit. As I looked around I was immediately impressed, the new owners made it a priority to preserve every bit they could, including NOT renaming the bar! The bartender told me the owner's absolutely did not even consider remaining the bar! He himself was a local and frequented that bar since he was a kid. I was so impressed. I extended my arm for a handshake and to introduce myself. He shook my hand and said nice to meet you I'm James! I had a few more cocktails as I reflected on old memories and was able to catch up on 20yr old friends grabbed a homemade pizza to go.(DELICIOUS!!!) and hit the road.James and Tonya, y'all NAILED it! Thank you for the great experience, cocktails and food!!! We'll see y'all Wed for our family night. Dont change a thing ”
“ My husband and I could not say enough about Dad's Place. Relaxing at Dads, great drinks, food, menu was big, with originality you never see in a small town bar, DELICIOUS. We had the special, Cod Sandwich & Tater Tots, total comfort food. We cannot wait to go back, new friends, who make you feel like you belong right there in Charlotte, Iowa. “ Amazing place! It has amazing food! Got a few burgers there and they were soo good! All of the food there not only looks good, but tastes good too! Great atmosphere! Owned by some amazing people, with great attitudes. Not very loud, very calm place, had a few games for little kids to play while waiting for food to arrive. Definitely a place you need to try if you're by there or if you just need something new to try! Can't wait to come back and try more! ”
“ Stopped in on a Monday around noon. A great little place I'd never stopped at. Had a great double cheeseburger and fries. Didn't' need the extra patty. It was an ample burger without it. I'll make it a point to stop by again. Looks like a nice varied menu. ”
